Why is my Card being declined due to authentication reasons?
Updated over a week ago

On the 14th March 2022, new regulations came into place which now means that all online transactions must be verified via a process known as Strong Customer Authentication (SCA).

This means that when you or your child are trying to make an online purchase, the merchant will now ask for the payment to be approved in the RoosterMoney app first.

If you are experiencing a decline when trying to use the Rooster Card online, this might be because the merchant has not yet set up their SCA authentication process and they aren't prompting you to open the RoosterMoney app to approve the payment.

If this is the case you can reach out to the merchant or check their FAQs to see when they're working to introduce this.

If you're not sure if the decline was because of SCA authentication, then reach out to our Customer Support team via the app or at hello@roostermoney.com
