How to log in to the Child Account

Find out how your child can log in and access their own account

Updated over 3 months ago

Each child that you add to your family account will have their own profile.

Children can use their profile to see how much pocket money they have, create goals to save towards, put money into their different pots, check their statement, or for Rooster Card customers, check the balance on the Rooster Card.

Parents/Guardians can help their child set up their own username and password, or for older children, parents can share a QR code or link so that their child can create their own login details.

To get started, choose a scenario from below:

I am a parent, and I want to let my child set up their own login details (Ideal for parents whose kids are older, or have their own smartphone or tablet)

I am a parent, and I want to set up my child’s login details for them (Ideal for parents whose kids are younger, or don’t yet have their own smartphone or tablet)

  1. Once you have created a profile for your child on your NatWest Rooster Money family account, tap ‘Set login details’ underneath their profile tile

  2. Confirm how your child will access their profile ( if they do not yet have their own device, head back to the top of this article and select ‘I am a parent, and I want to set up my child’s login details for them’)

  3. Choose ‘[name] has their own device’

  4. Select ‘[name] will set their login details

  5. If your child is physically present with you, then select ‘Scan a QR code with [name] device

  6. Your child will need to open the NatWest Rooster Money app on their device, select ‘Child’ and then ‘Activate my account’ and then ‘Scan a QR code from my guardian’s phone’. If they do not have the app installed already, scanning the QR code from their device camera will direct them to the app store to download the app. Once the app is installed, they can restart step 6.

  7. Once your child has scanned the QR code, they should select ‘Set login details’ on the Welcome screen and follow the instructions on screen to create their username and password

What if my child isn’t physically present with me?

That’s not a problem, instead of selecting the QR option, instead select ‘Share a link to [name] device’ and choose how to send the link. When your child clicks the link, they’ll either be directed to their app store to download the app if they haven’t already, or they will be directed to the app if they have.

Once they have the app installed, tapping on the link will direct them to the Welcome screen. On the next screen select ‘Set login details’ and follow the instructions on screen to create their username and password
