Can my child login and access their Rooster Money account?
Updated over a week ago

Each child has their very own Rooster Money account they can access.

Just like you, kids can log into their account and see how much pocket money they have, create goals to save towards, put money in their savings or check their statement.

There are two ways they can access their account

1. From their own device:

You can set up their very own login details which they can use to access their account from their device.

  • Tap Menu in the top right corner of the family dashboard

  • Tap Manage Account

  • Tap on the name of the child who's login details you wish to set up

  • Tap [Child's name]'s Login Details

  • Enter your RoosterMoney password (or use biometrics) or access the next screen

  • Make sure the Has their own device tab is selected

  • From here you can set their Username and Password

  • Download the RoosterMoney app to your child's device, and then use these details to login

Alternatively, you can also access your child's login details by following the steps below:

  • Click on the 3 horizontal lines in the top right

  • You will see an option listed called [Child's name]'s Settings

  • Tap [Child's name]'s Login Details

  • Enter your Rooster Money password (or use biometrics) to access the next screen

  • Make sure the Has their own device tab is selected

  • From here you can set their Username and Password

  • Download the Rooster Money app to your child's device, and then use these details to login

2. From your device:

If you child doesn't have a device of their own, they can access their account from your device using the 'Switch User' feature.

  • Click on your profile photo in the top left corner to access the quick navigation

  • A navigation pane will slide out from the left

  • At the bottom of the navigation pane you'll see the button Switch User

  • Click on this to see all the accounts in your family

  • Click on the child whose account you want to access (so they aren't accessing their details from your parent account)

  • The very first time you do this you'll be asked to set a passcode for your child

  • Enter this passcode twice to save it and then you'll be logged in

The next time your child wants to access their account, use the Switch User button again, then enter the passcode that you set the first time.

Question: What if my child forgets their passcode?

Answer: No problem! You can check what their passcode is, or set a new one from your account by following these steps:

  • Go to your child's dashboard

  • Click on the Settings cog in the top right

  • You will see an option listed called [Child's name]'s Login Details

  • Select the They'll use mine tab

  • From here you can view the passcode, or tap on it to change it

Question: What's the difference between my account and my child's?

Answer: From a child's account, they can view their balance, move money between pots, create goals, and allocate their money in Spend towards these goals. If you have subscribed to PLUS and have set your child jobs, they can also view and mark these as complete from their account.

From a parent's account, you can do all of the same activities on behalf of your child as well as editing all of the settings for you and your family. If you're using PLUS you can create new jobs, and approve or reopen jobs that your children have marked as complete.

They do look similar, so the best way to tell if you're in your account is by checking if your profile picture is in the top left of your screen.
